The First Post

Hello everyone, my name is Damian B Scalf, a Florida native and university sophomore. I am a pol sci major with a minor in education who intends to make the most out of being a high school history teacher. Thus I can not wait to use what I learn from this class to my own craft. Besides that I find myself to be your average college student intending to bring his best to the classroom so that he may eventually bring his best to his class room.

Prior to this class technology has been a staple of my education. From my use of the internet in both research and simple communication to the use of computers to produce my work it has always been there with my pursuit of academic excellency. This is even further compounded by the fact that due to covid my education has become entirely dependent upon technology,  and so I hope to become more proficient given the circumstances. So all in all I would say that I am not only an avid user of technology, but a proficient one when it comes to applying it to my education.

My personal learning network I would have to say is some what sporadic, with the use of a varying cavalcade of tools that change frequently. Out of all of them I would say learning network relies most frequently on my access to the internet through googling and research and my compute for use in creating and maintaining documents. Outside of those two however my personal learning network changes almost weekly, with at times help from faculty or professors taking a larger role and others having me rely solely on what textual material I can get my hands on. This means largely my PLN can be defined simply as flexible.

  1. Hey Damian! I love what you said about bringing your best to the classroom so that you may eventually bring your best to YOUR classroom! That was really motivational. Like you, technology has been a staple in my education, since as we just learned we grew up just in time to be digital natives. I can also agree with your statement on your technology use for education being further compounded due to COVID-19. All of my classes are either remote or completely online...do you have any classes on campus or do you remain on the computer for all your classes?
